Big Brothers Big Sisters
of Eastern is dedicated to providing children
with caring mentors. We serve children, primarily
from single-parent homes, who are in need of
additional support and friendship.
Children are matched
in one-to-one relationships with mentors (Bigs) based
upon compatible interests and
personalities. Bigs are
volunteers, from students to retirees, who commit to
sharing their time and friendship with children
enrolled in our program.
All Bigs are
screened, trained and supervised by professional
staff. Our work ensures that our Bigs are positive
role models and trusted friends to the children we
serve.
The results of these
mentoring relationship are REMARKABLE and a benefit to
our entire community … Children matched with Bigs gain
confidence and skills, do better in school, and are
far less likely to get involved with drugs or
delinquent behaviors.
